Today in Ashgabat, members of the Indian community and friends of India ceremoniously celebrated the inclusion of Diwali — the traditional Indian Festival of Lights — in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Participants emphasized that UNESCO’s decision is an important step in recognizing India’s cultural richness and centuries-old traditions at the international level.

Diwali, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, unites families and communities around the world. According to members of the Indian community, the inclusion of the festival in UNESCO’s prestigious list contributes to further promoting India’s cultural heritage and strengthening intercultural dialogue.
