Volkan Bozkir, President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, in his video message, thanked the Government of Turkmenistan for the initiative to declare the year 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, which officially starts today.
The speech by Bozkir was broadcast at a large online session to mark the launch of the International Year of Peace and Trust in 2021, which was adopted by the UN on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
Having pointed out that, in the context of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the need for peace and trust is greater than ever, Bozkir said: “In 2021, I urge you all to put aside difference. This is the time for solidarity. We must work together.”
“No one is safe, until everyone is safe,” he added.
The opening event to launch the Year was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, representatives of many international organizations, famous diplomats and political leaders. 100 journalists from news agencies across 30 countries have registered in the virtual press center of the forum.
