Turkmenistan in "Poems of Victory": the memory of the war sounds in the voice of poetry

The organizing committee of the international festival "Sounds of Dutar" named after Nury Khalmamedov enthusiastically joined the international media project "Poems of Victory", which united the CIS countries under the auspices of the Library Assembly of Eurasia (BAE). This initiative, proposed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov, became an important step in the jubilee year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, aimed at perpetuating poetic works glorifying heroism and reflecting the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War.

The Russian State Library, a long-standing partner of the festival "Sounds of Dutar", annually provides its halls, in particular, the department of musical publications and sound recordings, located in the Pashkov House - one of the most beautiful buildings in Moscow, for holding festival conferences.

Having received the honorable opportunity to represent Turkmenistan in this significant project, the organizing committee of the festival "Sounds of Dutar" turned to the work of poet Khemra Shirov, father of Aina Shirova, composer and member of the jury of the composer's competition for the poems of Magtymguly, held within the framework of the festival in 2024. The poems of Khemra Shirov, permeated with the pain of loss and unshakable faith in victory, became a powerful expression of the contribution of the Turkmen people to the common cause of Victory.

The result of this painstaking work was the inclusion of the Turkmen segment in the film "Poems of Victory". The premiere of the film took place at the All-Russian Library Congress in Izhevsk, "The Library Capital of Russia 2025", which took place from May 26 to 29.

The congress, held under the motto "Victory. Stronger Together", brought together representatives of libraries, information centers, educational institutions and their partners. The ceremonial presentation of the joint project of the Presidential Library and BAE "Poems of Victory", and, in particular, the premiere screening of the film, became one of the most striking events of the congress.

The main theme of the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was the significant role of libraries in the implementation of state tasks, the protection of cultural heritage and the preservation of historical memory. The Victory Poems project has become a vivid example of how culture and art can serve to preserve the memory of the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, and cooperation between the CIS countries helps to strengthen spiritual ties and mutual understanding.

The participation of the festival "Sounds of Dutar" in the project "Poems of Victory" is not only a tribute to the memory of the war heroes, but also an important step in popularizing Turkmen culture and literature in the international arena. This is further confirmation that music and poetry know no boundaries and are capable of uniting people in the name of peace and goodness, reminding us of the importance of preserving historical memory and strengthening cultural ties between peoples. This project demonstrates how art can become a powerful tool for uniting and preserving the memory of a great feat.
