The national air carrier, Turkmenistan Airlines, informed passengers about changes in the schedule of domestic flights to the western region of the country.

From May 19, 2025, flights previously operated on routes through the Turkmenbashi airport (from / to Ashgabat, Turkmenabat, Mary and Dashoguz) are temporarily suspended.

At the same time, from this date, the airline will launch regular flights on similar routes, but with arrival and departure from the new international airport in Balkanabat. We are talking about flights in the following directions: Ashgabat - Balkanabat - Ashgabat, Turkmenabat - Balkanabat - Turkmenabat, Mary - Balkanabat - Mary and Dashoguz - Balkanabat - Dashoguz.

Thus, for passengers traveling between the specified cities and the western region, the airport of arrival and departure is now Balkanabat.

For passengers who have purchased tickets for flights that were previously operated through Turkmenbashi Airport:

Refunds or free rerouting are available. Tickets purchased online are also eligible for free cancellation and re-issuance to alternative routes via Balkanabat.
