Turkmenistan and ADB to celebrate 25th anniversary of cooperation with ceremonial event
18.05.2025 | 22:40 |On May 17, during a working visit to the city of Arkadag, National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Director of the Asian Development Bank Resident Mission in Turkmenistan Artur Andrysiak. At the meeting, the parties noted the positive dynamics of cooperation and confirmed their commitment to its further expansion based on the Partnership Strategy for 2024-2028, approved by the ADB Board of Management and endorsed by the Government of Turkmenistan.
The strategy envisages increasing cooperation in three key areas: assisting in the transition to a climate-resilient "green" economy; increasing competitiveness through diversification, development of entrepreneurship and human capital; and support for structural and institutional reforms.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the readiness of the government of Turkmenistan to close cooperation with the Asian Bank for Development in the implementation of this strategy. With the participation of this financial structure in Turkmenistan, two projects were successfully implemented in the energy and railway industries. Having emphasized that ADB provides technical assistance in various sectors totaling 12 million US dollars, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty focused on the new possibilities of bilateral connections.
The head of the permanent representative office of ADB emphasized that for the bank it is a great honor to participate in investment projects in Turkmenistan and, in particular, in the "smart" city of Arkadag. This is aimed at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Memorandum, signed with the participation of the State Committee for the Construction of the city of Arkadag and the Asian Bank for Development.
The document provides for cooperation in the development of energy, water and urban planning industries in the city of Arkadag, measures to introduce advanced technologies, renewable energy sources and re -use of water. Given the great attention paid by the country's leadership to improve the activities of the healthcare system, a proposal was also put forward to open a training center for nurses here.
At the meeting, Arthur Andrysiak recalled that this year there are 25 years of cooperation between ADB and Turkmenistan and expressed an offer to organize a solemn event on the occasion of this date. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the proposal, noting the importance of partnership in achieving common goals and implementing promising high -tech projects.
