Armenia is conducting negotiations regarding the supply of Turkmen gas
31.03.2025 | 10:25 |Armenia is considering the possibility of procuring natural gas from Turkmenistan. As announced by the Prime Minister's advisor, Artashes Tumanyan, Yerevan has commenced discussions with the State Concern "Turkmengaz".
The deliveries are planned to be carried out via a SWAP arrangement through the territory of Iran, which has already granted its consent, according to "Armenpress". According to Mr. Tumanyan, the acquisition of between 600 million and 1 billion cubic meters of gas is under discussion.
Furthermore, the prospect of Turkmen gas transit through Armenia to Georgia is being considered, with Georgia having already expressed its readiness for such cooperation. The implementation of this project would unlock new opportunities for the energy supply of the Black Sea region countries.
Currently, Armenia also imports gas from Iran under the "Gas in exchange for electricity" program, and its gas transportation system is serviced by the company "Gazprom Armenia".
