Samsung is preparing a revolution in the world of foldable smartphones with a new device that will possess the unique capability of folding in both directions. This signifies that users will not require an external screen for notifications and basic tasks, which is utilized in contemporary foldable devices.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has approved the South Korean giant's patent for a device featuring a 360-degree hinge mechanism.

In its folded state, a strip of the display will be visible on the device, positioned beneath the camera modules. The display is covered with ultra-thin glass (UTG) with a layered structure composed of flexible polymers and adhesive.

Samsung has already demonstrated a concept of a similar device under the name “Flex In & Out”, but the new patent may become the foundation for future commercial products. This could substantially alter perceptions of foldable devices and their capabilities, providing users with more flexible and convenient solutions.
