The invitation letter on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen people was handed over to the Prime Minister of Armenia
19.03.2025 | 18:40 |On 19 March 2025, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov met with the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed to A. Harutyunyan an invitation addressed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to a representative forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality.
During the meeting, the parties touched upon issues of existing political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian and transport and communication relations between the two countries and discussed the possibilities for further development of these areas, and in this context, the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Armenian Commission on Economic Cooperation was touched upon, the next meeting of which will be held at the end of March this year.
The parties touched upon the issue of strengthening the legal framework of Turkmen-Armenian cooperation. Ambassador M. Ayazov said that the current year in Turkmenistan is held under the motto "International Year of Peace and Trust" and noted that the current year is also an anniversary year, since 2025 marks 30 years since Turkmenistan declared permanent neutrality, the status of which was enshrined in UN General Assembly resolutions in 1995 and 2015.
The Ambassador added that the Resolution "2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust", put forward by Turkmenistan, was adopted by the UN General Assembly, and the Republic of Armenia became a co-author of it, along with 86 countries.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for the development of trade between the two countries using the transport and logistics potential of Turkmenistan.
