The Ambassador of Türkiye summed up the results of 2025 and spoke about plans for developing bilateral relations with Turkmenistan

On January 28, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, held a press conference during which he summed up the results of 2025 and outlined the prospects for bilateral relations in 2026.
According to the diplomat, the past year became an important stage in strengthening the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Turkmenistan. In 2025, the two sides actively developed cooperation in many areas, including the economy, education, culture, and the international arena. Ahmet Demirok particularly noted the support of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov.
The diplomat emphasized that the high level of mutual visits reinforced the strategic nature of bilateral relations. In 2025, Türkiye sent its representatives to most international events organized to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. Among the key events, Ahmet Demirok highlighted the participation of the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in the forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The Ambassador stressed that the friendship and partnership between the two countries are reflected not only in official politics but also in cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In 2025, Turkmenistan and Türkiye hosted joint events aimed at exchanging experience in the fields of education and science, as well as promoting the heritage of great poets and writers, including Magtymguly Pyragy.
Ahmet Demirok paid special attention to the award he personally received in 2025 — the “30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality” medal, presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov.
The diplomat noted that bilateral visits continued actively in 2025: official delegations from Turkmenistan visited Türkiye, while Turkish ministers took part in conferences and forums held in Ashgabat. Among the main areas of cooperation, he highlighted the economy, energy, education, and social projects.
Ahmet Demirok emphasized that Türkiye and Turkmenistan closely cooperate within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations, supporting Turkmenistan’s initiatives on peace and security. Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality is viewed by Türkiye as an active instrument for the country’s constructive participation in global and regional processes.
The Ambassador of Türkiye expressed confidence that in 2026 bilateral relations would continue to strengthen, and joint initiatives in the political, cultural, and educational spheres would further expand.
