Turkmenistan and the UN: Towards a New Stage of Cooperation in Sustainable Development
13.12.2024 | 21:00 |On December 13, a meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021–2025 was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other ministries and departments of the country, as well as the UN Resident Coordinator and heads of departments of UN agencies.
The Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework is a key document that sets the vector of Turkmenistan's interaction with the UN. It is based on medium-term and long-term strategies aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthening international partnership.
The meeting discussed the UN recommendations for the final assessment of the implementation of the current program, the results of the work of five specialized groups, as well as preparations for the next stage of cooperation for 2026–2030.
Particular attention was paid to the successes in the implementation of the current program and the prospects for its improvement. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts at the interdepartmental level and confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to actively participate in the development of a new document aimed at achieving global goals.
