Oriented on making people closer

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on her re-election as President of the European Commission.

Expressing commitment to strengthening ties with the European Union, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan supports the development of these relations within the framework of regional cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union and is ready to make efforts to promote mutually beneficial partnership in promising areas, TDH said.

On July 18, von der Leyen was re-elected chairman of the European Commission (the highest executive body in the European Union) for a new five-year term until 2029. Her candidacy was supported by 401 members of the European Parliament, 284 voted against, 15 abstained.
