 Turkmen artists are invited to the international music festival in Samarkand

The XIII international festival “Sharq Taronalari” (“Melodies of the East”), which is one of the largest musical events in Central Asia, will take place on August 25-30 in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The festival was initiated in 1997 with the aim of widely popularizing national and world musical art, preserving and developing the great traditions of peoples, encouraging talent in the field of music and vocals, promoting intercultural dialogue and international creative ties, chanting the ideas of peace, friendship and mutual understanding. It is held every two years with the support of UNESCO.

The festival will include a competition for the best performance of national songs and instrumental music, an international conference “Musical Culture of the Peoples of the East: Principles of Creative Adaptation in Globalization Processes,” as well as performances by participants in concert halls, parks and other venues in Samarkand. At the end, the festival laureates will be awarded and a gala concert will take place.

Professional and amateur creative groups and soloists can take part in the competition. The music program must include one of the following areas: folk music; traditional classical music; modern national songs and instrumental music. 18072024-samarkand-orient (4).JPG Conference participants first submit texts of reports or detailed abstracts to the organizing committee of the festival.

All expenses for the participants’ stay in Uzbekistan (accommodation, food, transportation) are covered by the festival organizing committee.

Applications will be accepted until August 1, 2024.
