Oriented on making people closer

This is how experts assessed the event, which takes place in Russia from February 21 to March 3, 2024. For the first time in the history of world sports, Kazan is hosting the International Multisport Tournament “Future Games”. The new format games has brought together the strongest athletes on the planet, including from Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and other countries of the Islamic world. In total, more than 2,000 participants from 277 teams representing 107 countries compete in the tournament.

The best athletes and e-sportsmen from around the world compete in 21 innovative disciplines that support the concept of figital, that is, combining classical sports, e-sports and technology.

To win in a fijital discipline, it is not enough for an athlete to be the best only on the football field, racetrack, ring or in his favorite video game. Points accumulated in the physical and digital stages are combined, and participants require special training and the ability to quickly switch from one challenge to another.

The Future Games competition is divided into five “challenges”:

The Sports challenge combines classic sports with their digital counterparts: fijital football, fijital basketball, fijital hockey, phygital martial arts, fijital racing, fijital skateboarding, fijital BMX and virtual cycling.

The "Tactics" Challenge includes computer shooters and laser tag competitions.

The "Strategy" Challenge features popular battle arenas from MOBAs and World of Tanks, plus additional endurance challenges.

The "Speed" Challenge will require participants to complete retro games as quickly as possible and then compete in physical challenges.

The "Technology" Challenge consists of drone and robot competitions that participants will control, a dance simulator, a virtual reality game, cybathletics and sports programming.

Participants of the Games are fighting for the for the Future Games Trophy, which in November-December 2023 traveled from Moscow to Baikonur, after which it went to the ISS. In 2024, he returned from space and was presented at the Future Games. The total prize fund of the competition is $10 million.

Guests of the Games were foreign delegations and over 600 media representatives from Russia, China, the UAE, Vietnam, Cuba, Italy, Syria, France, South Africa, Latin America and other countries. The competition is broadcast on 200 sites on all continents, including countries such as Brazil and Chile, China and India, as well as CIS countries.

The opening ceremony took place in the city of Kazan on February 21, and the closing ceremony will take place on March 3. The tournament involved 2,000 volunteers from 20 countries, who were selected from 7,000 applicants.

A new sports trend - figital - is rapidly gaining popularity in the world. Russia is among the founders and leaders in its development. The idea of creating the Games of the Future was first voiced in 2021 in Kazan. In May 2023, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, which today is already called the “sports capital of Russia,” hosted an international physical football tournament with the participation of teams from America, Europe and Asia. Islamic countries were represented in the tournament by the Iranian team - Persian Gulf.

The physical football competitions were held as part of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” 2023, where the development of physical sports in the world and OIC countries was separately discussed. Participants in the expert discussions (including the President of the Bahrain Esports Federation, Hussein Al-Kuheji), agreed: such games contribute to the harmonious development of modern youth, correspond to their range of interests and find a great response among modern e-sportsmen, students and schoolchildren.

Experts also noted sports and the further holding of joint sports events, including fidital, as a factor in a sustainable partnership between Russia and the Islamic world, open, mutually beneficial and non-discriminatory.
