A creative evening by composer Dangatar Hydyrov was held in Ashgabat
04.12.2023 | 00:25 |In honor of the upcoming celebration of the Day of Neutrality of Turkmenistan, a creative evening of composer, People's Artist of Turkmenistan, laureate of the state prize Magtymguly Dangatar Hydyrov was held in the Great Hall of the Maya Kulieva Turkmen National Conservatoire.
Before the start of the concert, the senior lecturer, head of the Department of "History of Music" Bahargul Yakubova, spoke about the creative path of Dangatar Bayramovich Hydyrov. This format has become traditional for conservatory concerts, which attract a diverse audience, and many are really interested in learning additional information that prepares them to listen to music through acquaintance with the biography of the author.
The composer was born on December 25, 1953 in the village of Gekdepe near Ashgabat. The boy's fate was greatly influenced by his grandfather Hydyr-aga, who in every possible way contributed to the comprehensive education of his grandson. In 1960, Dangatar entered secondary school and at the same time studied to play the mandolin.
Seven years later, he begins his studies at the Gekdepe music School in accordion class and simultaneously attends a song circle, and at the same time learns to play various wind instruments and performs as part of the local ensemble "Geokdepe Mukams".
Experienced mentors noticed and supported the innate musical talent of young Dangatar Hydyrov, and in two years he completed the full course of the five-year training program. Having become the first graduate of the Geokdepa Music School, in 1969 he entered the historical and theoretical department of the Dangatar Ovezov Turkmen State Music College. His first composition was the song "My Gekdepe" ("Gökdepäm") based on the poems of the young poet Orazduroy Atahanov.
At the college, the young musician begins studying piano and music theory with Valentin Ivanovich Mitkalev and creates his first compositions for piano and a number of songs. The works of such composers as Weli Muhatov, Nury Halmamedov, Aman Agajikov, and Rejep Rejepov became an example for him. At the same time, admiring the work of outstanding bakhshi Sahy Jepbarov and Chary Tachmamedov, he studies the subtleties of professional folk music.
In 1970, Dangatar Hydyrov was selected among talented young people to study at the music school at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory. Here his mentors were Konstantin Konstantinovich Batashov (composition), Yuri Nikolaevich Kholopov (analysis of musical forms, polyphony).
After graduating from college, Dangatar Hydyrov studied at the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Rimsky- Korsakov State Conservatory in the composition class of Professor Sergei Mikhailovich Slonimsky and composer Gennady Ivanovich Banshchikov. As a thesis, the young composer presented a Suite for oboe, bassoon, violin and cello and a three-part symphony.
Returning to Ashgabat, Hydyrov begins teaching at the Dangatar Ovezov Turkmen State Music School and at the same time works as an editor of the repertory and editorial board of the Department of Theaters and Musical Institutions of the Ministry of Culture. After that, he directed the Turkmen State Philharmonic named after Milla Tachmyradov.
For many years, the composer worked at the Magtymguly National Musical and Drama Theater. Today, Dangatar Hydyrov continues his teaching activities at the Maya Kulieva Turkmen National Conservatory at the Department of Composition.
Among the composer's compositions are music for many performances, feature films, songs and romances based on poems by Magtymguly, Gurbannazar Ezizov, Annaberdi Agabayev, Gozel Shagulyeva, Atageldi Annaev, Govshutgeldi Dangatarov and others.
The concert featured the songs "The Beautiful City of Arkadag", "We need Peace", "Pink Flowers" performed by the chamber orchestra (artistic director and conductor Nura Mukhiev) and the choir (choirmasters Elena Moskvicheva and Rano Orunova).
The composer's chamber and instrumental compositions were performed by students of the special piano department Shaislam Komildzhanov - "Sonatina" and Abadan Meredova - "Imitation". Wind instrument students Ishangulyev Gurbanguly and Orazov Kuvvat played "Three Miniatures for oboe and clarinet".
Chamber-vocal works were performed by young teachers and students of the conservatory. So, a student of the department of solo singing Dunyagozel Begalieva sang the songs "My Goat" and "Ascend, sunshine, ascend" (based on poems by Gurbannazar Ezizov), she was accompanied by a quintet of wind instruments. In her performance of a song based on poems by Govshutgeldi Dangatarov, "Dedicate Love to Me", Kovus Bashimov conducted the chamber orchestra.

The ensemble of folk instruments (artistic director Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Omar Igamov) accompanied vocal compositions performed by People's Artist of Turkmenistan Atageldy Garyagdiyev, students Bayramtach Gandymova and Azat Bazarov.
Music from the movie "Legends of the Ancient Mountains" was also played. The final number of the concert was the patriotic song "Şöhrat size Arkadag" based on poems by Dovletgeldi Annamuradov performed by the chamber orchestra, choir and soloist Begench Gaipov.
