With Wi-Fi you can see - through walls

Researchers from the University of California at Santa Barbara have developed the “Wiffract” technology, which allows you to accurately identify various objects using Wi-Fi equipment signals. A regular router can be used as a device.

Wiffiract technology uses the Keller cones phenomenon. This is an outgoing set of rays that appears when radio frequency radiation comes into contact with the edge point of an object.

Analyzing the behavior of radiation and cone formation allows you to determine the shapes of stationary objects behind a wall without artificial intelligence and machine learning. This is the advantage of “Wiffract” over other methods that are focused on recognizing objects in motion.

The creators are confident that the new development will find application in the concept of “smart homes”.
