International grandmaster from Turkmenistan became the third at the chess festival in Iran
06.09.2023 | 14:18 |International grandmaster Yusup Atabaev took third place at the 17th Avicenna Cup chess festival, which was held in Hamadan (Iran).
According to the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, Atabaev scored seven points out of nine possible, losing second place in additional indicators to Ali Rastbod, thus placing him in third place.
Another Turkmen chess player Saparmurad Atabaev finished the tournament in fourth place, losing in the decisive battle to Iran's Masud Musadehpour.
The international chess tournament in Iran brought together over seven hundred participants from nine countries.
Athletes competed in three categories:
• Tournament "A" (Masters): for players with a rating of 1800 and above;
• Tournament "B": for players with a rating below 1800;
• Tournament "C": among children under 8 years old.
