Matilda Bogner has been appointed the new regional representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia. This is reported on the page of the regional office of the organization on Instagram.
"I am very happy to return to Central Asia, a unique region of the world. This year, when the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is celebrated, we have the opportunity to work to further strengthen human rights in this region and around the world. I believe that together with the OHCHR team in Central Asia, partners and associates, we will be able to contribute to ensuring freedom, equality and justice for everyone," she commented.
Matilda Bogner has been working in the UN system since 2006. This is her second appointment as the head of the OHCHR regional office in Central Asia. Previously, she also represented the offices of this agency in the Pacific region and Southeast Asia. Matilda Bogner headed the Department for Human Rights, Transitional Justice and the Rule of Law of the UN Mission in Libya, was a senior UN adviser on human Rights in Belarus.
