For smartphones running Android 14, the ability to send messages via satellite communication will become available. This was reported on the Google Pixel FC Twitter account.

For these purposes, it is necessary to install special hardware that will allow satellite communications to send short text SMS in the absence of a mobile network.

The upcoming Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy will be the first smartphone models to support this feature.

Android 14 is expected to be released this fall.
