During a visit to the Dynamo stadium in Minsk with foreign journalists, the Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Sergey Kovalchuk spoke about the preparation process for the II Games of the CIS countries, BelTA reports.

According to the head of the sports department of the republic, final preparations are currently underway, in particular, order is being put in place at the facilities, branding work is underway. And from July 4, exactly one month before the start of the Games, the organizers will enter the active phase of preparation.

Delegates from participating countries have already started coming to Belarus to test sports facilities. According to Sergey Kovalchuk, over 2,000 athletes from 18 countries have been officially accredited to participate in the II CIS Games.

"I think there will be much more participating countries. The format of the competition is open," he said.

Indeed, if the first Games were held in only one city of Kazan, then the Second Games of the CIS countries will be held in 11 Belarusian cities — Minsk, Brest, Grodno, Vitebsk, Orsha, Mogilev, Gomel, Zhlobin, Soligorsk, Borisov and Molodechno.

The II CIS Games will be held in Belarus from August 4 to 14, 2023.
