The head of the Turkmen delegation in Tatarstan, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Mammetkhan Chakiev took part on Friday in a meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. It was held within the framework of the International Economic Forum - KazanForum.

The event was also attended by Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, representatives of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt, Kuwait, Indonesia and other countries.

The group is a platform for consultations of public and political figures, business circles, representatives of the scientific community and the clergy, who have authority and influence in their countries.

Also on that day, Mammetkhan Chakiev met with Director General of the Ak Bars holding company Ivan Egorov at the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. The parties held talks on further cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.

The agenda of the forum in Kazan included a separate session on the topic "Infrastructural conditions for the development of cooperation in the field of industry, transport and logistics between Russia and Turkmenistan." Representatives of the delegation of a number of Russian regions and Afghanistan also took part in this session.

Head of the transport and communication complex of Turkmenistan, Mammetkhan Chakiev, speaking about the interaction to increase freight traffic along the North- South ITC, especially noted the active work with the Astrakhan region.

“We signed a memorandum on the creation of a logistics center in the port special economic zone of the Astrakhan region,” he said. - I am sure that this center will become an incentive for the growth of cargo transportation and the further development of the North-South corridor.

Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Azizi Nuriddin noted that his country is considering the possibility of developing cargo transportation along the North-South corridor along the Caspian Sea, using a port in Turkmenistan, and then through the Russian ports of Olya and Makhachkala. “This new route will allow deliveries of goods from Afghanistan and other countries in our region to Russia and vice versa,” he said.

Denis Afanasiev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region, in turn, stressed that the region is actively cooperating with all the countries of the Caspian Sea. "Turkmenistan is one of the main partners for us," he added, giving examples of cooperation in one of the most important industries - shipbuilding. At the Astrakhan shipyards, a transport barge and a self-elevating floating drilling rig were built for the neighboring Caspian state.

“Currently, negotiations are ongoing between the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the Turkmen Sea and River Routes Agency and the Balkan shipbuilding plant on the issue of joint construction of a transport fleet - multipurpose dry cargo ships,” the official said. - In April last year, an expert group of USC JSC (Joint Stock Company "United Shipbuilding Corporation”) visited the Balkan enterprise in Turkmenistan and audited the production and technological capabilities of the plant. As a result of the visit, a variant of the division of work and supplies between the Russian and Turkmen sides was proposed.

From the Turkmen side, head of the port of Turkmenbashi Seyitguly Bayseyidov, deputy director general of the JSC "Railways" Allaguly Khudaiberdiev, director general of the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan Merdan Byashimov and others spoke on behalf of the Turkmen side.

Farid Khanifov, Minister of Transport and Roads of Tatarstan, Valentin Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Ruslan Gainetdinov, Chairman of the Corporation for the Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship of the Ulyanovsk Region, expressed their views and proposals on the topic of the session.
