From waste – to incomes, or rice husk – to manufacture!
19.12.2019 | 07:41 |Rice - one of the major foodstuffs in the world. In many countries a dish from rice represent a traditional cuisine. The pilaf is considered to be a principal part of solemn feasts.
At the same time, very few people reflects that as a result of processing of rice grain into groats a considerable quantity of waste - rice husk which becomes one of the environmental contamination factors, is formed.
The overwhelming part of rice husk either is burnt, or is buried in the earth where practically it does not break up because of presence in it dioxide of silicon. These imperfect methods of elimination of waste demand financial and labour expenses, and the granting of additional land grounds.

But meanwhile, at the rational approach, a so-called waste is possible to transform into incomes, taking from recycling of "rice rubbish» considerable advantage for a person, without making harm to nature.
The ecological recycling and technological manufacture of demanded hard products from rice husk (pod) became important themes for scientific researches of experts and scholars of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
Considering that rice fields in the territory of Turkmenistan occupy some thousand hectares, according to crop production volumes of rice husk on which basis, it is possible to make necessary for industrial and agro industrial complexes a sorbent, also increase.

Besides, one of the main parts of rice waste is mineral ashes which by 92-97 % consist from dioxide of silicon, and siliceous materials are applied as filling material for automobile tyres. Materials obtained as a result of heat treatment of rice husk can be used in metallurgy – as heat insulating fill and in fuel industry.
One of the sorbents used in the fuel and energy complex for cleaning of natural gas, is an activated carbon. By the statistics for 2018 Turkmenistan imported 22, 5 tons of activated carbon for the sum of 182, 9 thousand US dollars.

The processing of rice husk and its use as a sorbent, having replaced a certain part of activated carbon got abroad, can become real possibility for decrease of a load the country’s budget.
The comment of the expert: the results received during laboratory experiments, conducted by the leading engineer of the laboratory of chemical technology of the Institute of Chemistry of the AS of Turkmenistan E.Kepbanova, give the grounds for optimistic forecast concerning application of rice husk as means for cleaning of natural gas, one of the basic riches of Turkmen land, from various impurity.
The following stage of our researches will give fuller and clear picture by efficiency and profitability of use of activated rice husk as a sorbent in variety of branches of economic complex of Turkmenistan.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the tendency to growth of volumes of activated carbon got abroad while there is a potential possibility after necessary processing is observed to use rice husk as a sorbent, having replaced with it a certain part of the imported activated carbon.
And it, besides an economic gain and ecological advantage, will make positive impact on the decision of the problem put by the president of Turkmenistan before the scientific community on manufacture of import replacing goods in our country.
