How to quickly grow figs - Turkmen scientists propose a biological method

The populations of Central Asia know well the taste of fig fruits. Ripe and sweet berries melt in your mouth, have a pleasant flavor and contain many useful vitamins and other substances.

Fig fruits are used in folk medicine, and are recommended for the treatment of the cardiovascular system diseases, bronchial asthma and anemia.

The fig tree is easy to look after. It grows in almost any type of soil. This oldest fruit and berry crop has been grown in Turkmenistan since ancient times.

However, observing the seedlings of plants in the agricultural production, scientists found that the rooting of fig seedlings requires more work and special agro-technical measures.

To reduce the time required to grow standard fig seedlings, taking into account other additional factors, scientists of Turkmenistan proposed a new development - a biological method of rooting seedlings on the tree branches.

A layer of bark is removed from the fig shoot of a certain diameter and size. A fabric bag filled with humus soil with organic fertilizer is attached to its lower and upper parts, which is tied with a dense ribbon to preserve the nutrient medium, and covered with a plastic film to avoid evaporation.

Humus keeps moisture in balance longer than regular soil. If the fig shoot is horizontally packed into a bag, then the probability of its rapid growth increases. Under optimal conditions of the rooting of a seedling, roots appear on it in 3-4 months. A seedling is considered ready when it takes on a standard look.

Consequently it turns out that from the branches of the mother figs new shoots are formed, grown in a short time. This is also very beneficial from an economic point of view, since the developed method for growing fig seedlings does not use water for irrigation.

After the fig shoot is brought to the level of a seedling, it can be planted with the bag in any suitable place, regardless of the time of year. The fig shoot planted from the mother tree quickly takes root and begins to yield in the second year.
