 BelTA: An international school on applied demography of the CIS countries will be held in Belarus

An international summer school on applied demography of the CIS countries will be held at the Belarusian State University from June 26 to July 1, BelTA reports. It is organized by the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the university.

Students of economic and geographical specialties from the CIS member states are invited to participate in the school. To do this, they need to pass a competitive selection by writing an essay on the topic "The role of demography in the daily life of society and the development of the state."

The essays together with the application should be sent to the organizers by May 12.

As part of the training, participants will attend lectures by Belarusian experts on the socio-economic consequences of demographic development, the impact of the demographic factor and its consequences for society and marketing. They will raise awareness in the field of monitoring and evaluation of social policy, the use of geoinformation technologies in applied demography. The school's program also includes workshops on working in the ArcGIS software package, geoprocessing of spatial data and the development of its own mini-project on the subject of the school.

It should be noted that the students will get acquainted with the open statistical databases of the National Statistical Committee of Belarus.

In general, the school will become a platform for the exchange of experience and training of highly qualified personnel in the field of demography.
