CCTV+: China launched the country's first offshore wind power platform

China's first floating offshore wind power platform has been towed to its place of operation – an offshore oil field located 136 kilometers off the coast of Wenchang City in Hainan Island Province in the south of the country.

A giant platform with a height of 35 meters and a weight of about 4 thousand tons, built by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), was shipped from Zhuhai City (prov. Guangdong, South China) by sea and will be installed in the waters near Hainan Island. The platform was named "Guanlan", which means "a look at the sea waves".

CNOOC reported that the platform will be in operation for at least 25 years, providing "green" energy to nearby oil and gas platforms.

After the installation was delivered to the designated place, its position was corrected by three tugs, which moved the platform using hundred-meter steel cables, moving in three different directions in a coordinated manner.
