The EU is holding a competition of short videos on sustainable energy in Central Asia

The European Union is launching a regional competition of short videos on Instagram Reels4SustainableEnergy among university students, young scientists and specialists in engineering, energy, ecology and climate studies from Central Asian countries.

The competition is held by the project "Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia" (SECCA) under the slogan "Accelerating the transition to clean energy — to reduce bills and improve skills".

Reels4SustainableEnergy within the framework of the Days of Sustainable Energy of the EU — Central Asia is aimed at promoting the environmental and economic benefits of energy conservation, raising public awareness of the need to develop renewable energy sources.

Through Reels, that is, short videos on the Instagram platform, the contestants must demonstrate simple practices that people can use to save energy in everyday life, as well as switch to renewable energy. The videos should inform the general public about the benefits of energy efficiency, thereby encouraging them to change their behavior in this matter.

English or Russian, or one of the languages of the countries of the region with a translation into Russian or English, should be the language of dialogues/audio (if available) of the competition videos.

A candidate can upload no more than 3 videos to Instagram with the hashtag #Reels4Energy (or #Reels4SustainableEnergy) and the tag @secca.eu until May 19, 2023. The duration of the video should not exceed 90 seconds. After uploading a video clip with the desired hashtag and mark, the candidate must fill out the appropriate application form and send it to the email address: media@secca.eu

The works will be evaluated by a competent jury consisting of representatives of EU Delegations in Central Asian countries and a group of SECCA project experts. The main selection criteria will be the video's compliance with the topic, its creativity, as well as the participant's understanding of the essence of the competition.

According to the results of the competition, 6 winners will be selected, who will have the opportunity to go to Europe to study the European experience in the field of renewable energy and the transition to sustainable energy.

The results of the competition will be announced within the framework of the Conference on Sustainable Energy, which will be organized by the SECCA Project in Astana on June 2, 2023. The award ceremony will be held in a hybrid format.
