 The referendum on the new constitution of Uzbekistan is scheduled for April 30

Deputies of the legislative (lower) chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan at a meeting on Friday adopted a resolution on holding a referendum on the new constitution of the republic on April 30, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

At a live session, the speaker of the lower house, Nuriddin Ismailov, invited the deputies to vote for the resolution on holding a referendum on April 30.

After that, 134 of the 137 deputies of the Zakpalata present voted for the resolution on holding a referendum on the draft law "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" on April 30. This decision has been sent to the Senate for approval.

It is planned to introduce 27 new articles into the current constitution, the total number of articles increases from 128 to 155, that is, the basic law of the republic has been updated by 65%.
