BelTA: The logo and mascot of the II CIS Games have been approved
14.03.2023 | 11:57 |Belarus has approved the logo and mascot of the II Commonwealth of Independent States Games, which the republic will host from August 3 to 15, 2023.
The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of international sports competitions in Belarus, BelTA reports.
The logo reflects a number of elements characteristic of Belarus — an ornamental eight-pointed star that blooms into a bright cornflower, a symbol of hospitality and friendliness.
"The eight-pointed star has a great mythological depth, and the cornflower is one of the unofficial symbols of Belarus. In our dynamic stylization of the logo, the cornflower acts as a national flower," commented Vitaly Ostrovsky, head of the marketing Department of the NOC of Belarus.
The games will be held under the slogan "Strong character — a bright game!", which conveys the main goal of the competition in a succinct form.
An original Belarusian lynx named Rysia was chosen as the mascot of the games. It is he who has the characteristics that are ideal for a sports mascot — agility, speed and wit.
