TAPI gas pipeline - a new round of talks will be held in Avaza

The government delegation of Pakistan headed by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Nadim Babar arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the X Gas Congress of Turkmenistan. The visit also includes meetings with the Turkmengas State Concern, the TAPI Pipeline Company Limited project company, as well as other participants of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project, where concrete steps to build a transnational pipeline will be discussed.

As ORIENT was told at TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, at present, in Pakistan and Afghanistan, work has been completed on engineering surveys, studying the pipeline route, FEED and technological documentation and a report on the environmental and social impact of the TAPI gas pipeline have been prepared. At the final stage, there are works on land allocation for the pipeline route.

The TAPI gas pipeline will transport 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year along the 1,800-kilometer route from the super-giant gas field Galkynysh in Turkmenistan to Indian Fazilka near the border with Pakistan.

It is planned that Afghanistan, which suffers from chronic energy shortages, will receive part of this flow, and the rest will be divided between Pakistan and India. In addition, Kabul will earn hundreds of millions of dollars in transit.

The regular annual Gas Congress of Turkmenistan, which will be held in Avaza on May 21-22, is the leading platform for exchanging views and discussing various international projects implemented by Turkmenistan in the oil and gas sector and attracting an increasing number of players in this area.

The growing interest in this international event demonstrates the favorable investment climate created in Turkmenistan.
