 Ashgabat hosts intergovernmental talks between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan

The fuel-energy and transport sectors, as the most relevant aspects of cooperation, were in the center of special attention at the meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar. The meeting took place in Ashgabat on Monday.

High-ranking officials discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation, confirming their readiness to intensify contacts in the fields of trade, agriculture and ecology, education and science, information and technological exchange and in other areas, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

At the same time, the importance of developing cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, in industrial sectors and in the field of transport was emphasized, in particular, the expansion of international and regional motor transportation, rail and maritme traffic with the use of the capabilities of the business communities of the two countries.

On the same day, Ashgabat hosted the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which is co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Chary Gylydzhov from the Turkmen side and Roman Sklyar from the Kazakh side.

The topic of interaction in the oil-gas, transport-logistics segments was also on top the agenda of the bilateral talks, including the issues of trade, industrial cooperation, processing industries, the food industry as well.

More substantial consultations took place during bilateral negotiations between the heads of the specialized structures of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. It was about the adoption of coordinated measures, taking into account the current sanitary protocols on increase of trade and export-import operations.
