Apple CEO Tim Cook reviews app adaptation for foldable iPhone Duo in Beijing

Apple chief Tim Cook met executives of Chinese streaming platform iQIYI in Beijing on Wednesday, where he was shown how the company's app has been adapted for the upcoming foldable iPhone Duo.
iQIYI demonstrated how its video interface automatically adjusts the display and playback controls when the device is fully opened or partly folded. The demonstration came during Cook's third visit to China this year, ahead of the phone's scheduled October 23 release.
Cook told CGTN that Apple has been working with Chinese developers in advance, providing APIs and technical support to help apps adapt to different screen layouts. Apple's Shanghai Developer Center is also involved in the effort.
Cook said the iPhone Duo is manufactured exclusively in China and highlighted the importance of the Chinese market for foldable devices.
iQIYI founder and CEO Gong Yu said the company is seeking to adapt its content to new devices and improve the viewing experience. He described cooperation with Apple as part of that strategy.
Gong also highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in content production and distribution. iQIYI is using AI across areas including production, design, distribution and monetization, as well as to support its expansion into overseas markets.
According to CCTV+, Apple's cooperation with Chinese developers is aimed at preparing apps for the capabilities of its new foldable device and strengthening the software ecosystem ahead of its market launch.
