Top three in the medal standings of the 5th Asian Games: Turkmenistan, Iran, Uzbekistan

On the second place is Iran with 39 medals: 10 gold, 6 silver, 23 bronze. The third position belongs to the national team of Uzbekistan with 57 medals: 7 gold, 16 silver, and 34 bronze. The top ten also included (in descending order) Kazakhstan, China, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, India, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Today the winners in the classic style in wrestling on belts have been awarded: Seydi Batyrov in the weight category up to 100 kg, Medet Hallygurbanov (60 kg), Agamyrat Orazsahedov (65 kg). The winners in women’s event, who have had gold medals: Maksuda Egemberdieva (over 70 kg), Lachin Badaglyeva (50 kg), Zarina Abdyrahmanova (55 kg), Zuhra Madraimova (60 kg), Gulnar Hayytbaeva (65 kg), Nasiba Surkieva (70 kg). The kurash wrestling competitions started. The Iranian team came on the first place, the second place belongs to Uzbekistan, the third – to Vietnam. Turkmenistan is on the fourth line. In Thai boxing, semi-final matches took place. The winners of semi-final matches tomorrow will continue to fight for gold. For now, the greatest number of awards is with athletes from Turkmenistan (8 bronze medals). The first medals among the masters of billiards were also played. In the discipline of the "Russian pyramid" in free style, Turkmen sportsmen took one gold and two bronze medals. In the match for the gold medal, Ibadbekir Bekdurdyev confidently outplayed the representative of Kazakhstan Yernar Chimbayev with a score of 5:1. Athletics competitions are over. Here the championship belongs to the national team of Kazakhstan with 10 medals: 6 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. On the second place is India, on the third is Saudi Arabia. The competitions of weightlifters are continuing. On the first line in terms of the number of medals is China (4 gold, one silver and one bronze), the second is Vietnam (2 gold, one silver and one bronze). Uzbekistan with two silver medals is in third place. In competitions of the first round in the "mix" discipline among tennis pairs, Turkmen sportsmen Anastasia Prenko and Isa Mammetguliyev in a meeting with Gavin Jacopo and Sainty Moloti from Tuvalu confidently lead in two sets with a score of 6:0, 6:1. Tomorrow the court will also see male and female pairs, among which are representatives of the hosts of the 5th Asian Games. In the second round our tennis pairs will be: Isa Mammetgulyev - Wong Hong Keith (Hong Kong), and Bayramova Jahan - Beatrice Gumula (Indonesia). The futsal matches are continuing. The women's national team of Turkmenistan finished the fight for medals, losing in the last match to the team of Japan, the leader of the group "A". The team of Japan has to play with national team of Iran, and team of Thailand will meet with the Chinese team. Men's national team of Turkmenistan, having outplayed the team of Chinese Taipei with a confident score of 5:1, scored the maximum 9 points and ahead of schedule guaranteed getting to the quarterfinals. In group "B", the Afghan team defeated Uzbek football players with a score 4:2 and won first place here. In the second match of this group, the Chinese team beat the Maldives team with a score 9:3. Men's national team of Turkmenistan joined the fight in the 3x3 basketball competition. In the first match our basketball team lost to the team of Lebanon with the score of 11:17, but in the second match they left no chance to the Tajik basketball players, defeating them with a score of 22:4. Our team retains the chances of reaching the quarterfinals, but for this we need a victory in the next match with the leader of the group "B" - the team of Iraq. The names of the winners in Taekwondo became known: among men - in weight categories up to 58 and 80 kilograms, and among women - in weight categories up to 49 and 62 kilograms. The largest number of medals is with the team from Iran - 6 gold, one silver and one bronze. The second place is with the Republic of Korea, the third –with China.
