The pre-election campaign of candidates for the post of head of state has begun in Azerbaijan.
According to the electoral legislation of Azerbaijan, pre-election campaigning must begin 23 days before the voting day and end 24 hours before it.
To present their platform, each registered candidate has three hours of free time on a Public TV channel. The campaign will be held with the participation of all candidates in the format of a round-table debate. The draw will determine the order of speeches of the candidates for the Presidency of the republic.
They can also place their advertisements free of charge in print media, in particular the republican Azerbaijani-language newspapers "Azerbaijan", "Khalg Gazeti" ("Narodnaya Gazeta"), "Republic" and the Russian-language "Baku Worker".
Special billboards have already been installed in the capital, other cities and districts of Azerbaijan to place propaganda posters. It is worth noting that it is forbidden to glue such materials on the walls of historical buildings and cultural sites.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic has also allocated special open-air and enclosed spaces for holding meetings of candidates with voters and other mass actions within the framework of the election campaign.
The campaign period will end on February 6 at 08:00 local time. Then the day of silence will come.
Early presidential elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for February 7, 2024. The CEC has registered seven candidates for the post of head of state. Among them are the current president of the state, Ilham Aliyev, whose candidacy was nominated by the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party (New Azerbaijan), self—nominated Zahid Oruj, leader of the National Front party Razi Nurullayev, head of the United People's Front of Azerbaijan party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Fazil Mustafa from the Great Creation Party, as well as the leader The Great Azerbaijan Party Elshad Musayev and self-nominated Fuad Aliyev.
