A major hydropower plant in southwest China's Sichuan Province achieved river closure, marking the start of its first main construction phase, according to China Energy Investment Corporation on Thursday.
The project is named "Laoyingyan Stage 2 Hydropower Plant". The plant is located on the Dadu River. It is expected to have a total installed capacity of 420 MW and an annual design power generation of 1.838 billion kWh.
The first unit of the plant is scheduled to begin operation in 2029.
