Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov will visit Turkey on August 13-14 on the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
Hakan Fidan and Rashid Meredov will discuss bilateral relations, cooperation in the fields of energy and communications, current international and regional developments, as well as multilateral cooperation, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported.
According to TRT Russian, during the upcoming visit, they plan to discuss ways to achieve the target of $5 billion in bilateral trade turnover, measures to effectively use the transport corridor through the Caspian Sea, projects to supply Turkmen gas to Turkey and Europe, as well as cooperation within regional and international organizations, especially the Organization of Turkic States (OTG).
The Deputy Prime Minister is expected to be accompanied by Turkmenistan's Defense Minister Begench Gundogdyev, the source added.
The TV channel notes that the visit is taking place against the backdrop of strengthening bilateral relations. In March 2024, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, where the Turkish President was awarded the title of "Honorary People's Elder of Turkmenistan". At the same time, important agreements in the fields of energy and aviation were signed.
The volume of bilateral trade in 2023 reached $ 2.6 billion, an increase of 26% as compared to the previous year.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Turkmenistan in October last year. In Ashgabat, he held talks with Rashid Meredov and was received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During the reception, there was also discussed the upcoming official visit to Turkey of the head of Turkmenistan.
