On April 24, acting on the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Turkmenistan, Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieira (with residence in Moscow).
At the beginning of the meeting, the diplomat conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, to the Head of the Turkmen State. The head of the national parliament congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his mission to strengthen interstate ties.
During a comprehensive discussion, the parties reviewed a wide range of issues concerning Turkmen-Argentine relations. Key emphasis was placed on the multilateral format—specifically, cooperation within the framework of the UN and other international organizations—as well as on legislative matters, the enhancement of direct inter-parliamentary dialogue, and the exchange of expertise regarding the improvement of the legal framework. Attention was also directed toward the regional dimension, with particular emphasis placed on the fact that neutral Turkmenistan is committed to expanding its partnerships with the countries of Latin America.
The Ambassador was provided with detailed information regarding the structure and activities of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, as well as the key international initiatives of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov aimed at ensuring sustainable development and environmental security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieira gave assurances that he would spare no effort to deepen bilateral partnership based on the principles of mutual respect and trust.
