The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport has rolled out free Wi-Fi in public places throughout the emirate.
This initiative is aimed at improving the digital infrastructure of the city of Abu Dhabi. As part of its implementation, buses, beaches and public parks will be provided with wireless Internet connection. The initiative has already covered 10 parks in Abu Dhabi, 11 in Al Ain and 14 in the Al Dhafra region. Soon, free high-speed Internet will cover the beaches of Cornish and Albatin.
Abu Dhabi holds a leading position in the IMD Smart City Index 2023 ranking. The rating is compiled by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
