A training seminar was held in the city of Mary, at which specialists from Turkmenistan studied international experience in the development of regulatory legal acts and regulatory and technical documents in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency, as well as on the use of municipal solid waste as alternative energy sources. This was reported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the joint project of UNDP and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza”. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (SEIT), the Research and Production Center “Renewable Energy Sources” (RES) at SEIT, as well as specialists and international consultants of the UNDP project.

At the seminar, the activities carried out jointly with specialists from the Ministry of Energy, GEIT and the UNDP project to develop regulatory legal acts on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources were presented. Participants got acquainted with international standards and best practices in this area, as well as with the activities of the UNDP project on sustainable waste management and the use of waste as renewable energy sources.
The seminar contributed to improving the skills of Turkmenistan specialists in the field of energy conservation and energy efficiency, as well as expanding cooperation between various stakeholders on these issues.
