The Main Directorate of Civil Defense and Rescue Operations of the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, organized simulation exercises to provide pre-medical and other types of assistance. Students, teachers and school administrations were involved in the events that took place from May to July.
The main purpose of the exercises, held with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, was to work out scenarios in various emergency situations, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
These actions were carried out following the results of the agreement on mutual understanding on cooperation in emergency situations and the action program between the NRCST and UNICEF, as well as Turkmenistan's accession to the Sendai Framework Program for Disaster Risk Reduction for 2015-2030.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan annually conducts such events at the local level — for individual enterprises and factories — and at the large—scale level - at the level of regions and the country. They are also joined by volunteers from the NRCST.
