Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko announced the possibility of laying the foundation of a joint Russian-Turkmen university in 2023 during a meeting with Chairman of the upper house of the Turkmen parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Moscow, TASS reports.
It is noteworthy that the laying is planned for the Year of the Russian language in the CIS countries, announced earlier.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich for his constant attention to the Russian language, Russian culture in general, care about their study, popularization. We are also grateful for the initiative to establish a Russian-Turkmen university in Ashgabat. We are doing everything in our power to speed up the execution of our part of the work," the head of the Federation Council noted.
The idea of establishing a Russian-Turkmen university in Ashgabat was announced during the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Russia.
