Testing of NVIDIA's new Multi Frame Generation 6X and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation technologies confirmed their ability to improve system performance, but also revealed a number of inherent limitations.

Multi Frame Generation 6X: Capabilities and Features

Multi Frame Generation 6X technology builds on NVIDIA's previous solutions by generating up to five additional frames per original frame. Visual differences between 4X and 6X modes are minimal: artifacts are present, but become noticeable primarily upon detailed image analysis.

Performance gains are present, but their rate decreases as the multiplier increases. While the base generation provides a 60-70% increase, moving from 5X to 6X adds only about 11-15%. However, a slight increase in latency is observed.

Experts emphasize that the technology's effectiveness is directly dependent on the initial performance level. For proper operation, a base frame rate of at least 50-60 frames per second is required, as the solution is designed to increase performance from "high" to "extreme" levels required for high-refresh-rate monitors.

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation: Adaptive Frame Generation

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation technology allows you to set a target frame rate, after which the system automatically adjusts the frame rate.

During tests, with a target of 240 fps, actual frame rates ranged from approximately 205 to 280 fps, indicating that the algorithm is adaptive rather than fixed.

Expert Conclusions

Based on their testing results, the experts note that new NVIDIA technologies can significantly improve performance, especially on systems with already high base frame rates. However, the performance gains slow down at maximum frame rates, and visual artifacts remain noticeable during detailed analysis.
