An innovative cleaning robot was tested at Brest-Central railway station. The pilot project was implemented within the framework of a state program aimed at expanding the use of robotics. The five-day trial confirmed the effectiveness of using autonomous machines at large transport facilities, BELTA reports.

The robot specializes in wet cleaning and operates fully autonomously — from water refilling to self-cleaning. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the machine scans the area thoroughly without missing any sections. The system can detect large soiling and respond to them precisely, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness.

The equipment operates around the clock according to a preset schedule. This eliminates the human factor: the robot does not get tired, does not skip cleaning zones, and consistently maintains order in waiting halls.

Railway management has already assessed the advantages of the industrial robot and discussed with suppliers the refinement of certain functions to meet the station’s specific needs. In the near future, several additional models are planned for testing, including systems for dry cleaning, large debris collection, and cleaning of adjacent areas.

The introduction of a fully integrated system of interacting robots is being considered for all major railway stations in the country. The use of “smart” technology in large spaces is regarded as a promising direction that will make passengers’ stay at railway stations more comfortable.
