"In Motion" — the 2026 Francophonie Creative Marathon Kicks Off in Ashgabat
The French Institute in Turkmenistan has announced the launch of its annual Francophonie Festival. In 2026, the central theme of the cultural celebration is "In Motion," combining the dynamics of language, sport, and art.
The festival program is aimed at young people over 17 and offers three unique formats for self-expression: from vocal mastery to intellectual duels.
Melody and Lyrics: Vocals and Essays
The song contest invites fans of French chanson and contemporary pop to submit their video works. Participants are free to choose their repertoire; the key is to fit the theme of "movement" and to deliver a clear pronunciation. Submissions on digital media will be accepted until March 13.
For those who prefer the power of words, an essay contest will be held on March 14. The essay topic is kept secret and will be announced only at the start of the competition. Registration is open at the French Institute's media library or by email at ift.culture@gmail.com until March 12. The winners will have the rare opportunity to read their works on stage during the final ceremony.
Intellectual Sports: Linguistic Duels
The most intense part of the program will be the oral spelling competition, organized specifically for students from the country's leading universities: Magtymguly TSU, Azadi TNIWL, and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The finals' format is borrowed from sporting competitions—one-on-one, knockout duels. This approach highlights the year's theme and turns the knowledge test into a thrilling spectacle.
