IOC has signed the contract for the hosting of the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has formally signed the contract for the hosting of the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French Alps.
This event will mark the fourth time that France has hosted the Winter Olympics, having previously done so in Chamonix in 1924, Grenoble in 1968, and Albertville in 1992.
The contract was signed following the provision of the necessary state guarantees by the French government for the organization of the Games. The IOC's Executive Director, Christophe Dubi, confirmed that the Games will be held across two French regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
Preparations for the Olympics have already commenced, with initial steps including the establishment of the organizing committee and the appointment of Edgar Grospiron as its president.
It has also been confirmed that Salt Lake City in the United States of America will be the host city for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
