From April 8th to 10th, the European Union-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a regional seminar in Astana on the effective use of technical equipment in customs control.

The event brought together representatives from the customs services of the five Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan.

The seminar aimed to strengthen the administrative capacity and enhance the competencies of staff responsible for planning equipment supplies. Effective and rapid customs control measures are important elements of trade facilitation, and modern technologies and their proper application ensure the stability of processes.

During the seminar, experts from Latvia presented to the participants the equipment lifecycle, the classification of border crossing points, and gap analysis methodologies. Participants were familiarized with the best practices of EU countries in the field of procurement, the preparation of technical specifications, and the conduct of testing.

Practical exercises on the modeling of technical requirements were also conducted.
