The visit of experts and international consultants from the European Union's SECCA project to Turkmenistan from March 31st to April 4th, 2025, marked a significant step in strengthening cooperation between the EU and Turkmenistan in the areas of sustainable energy and climate policy.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Cities Development in Ashgabat and Avaza" where the results of joint work and future plans were discussed. The experts transferred the first technical document, containing recommendations on the safe operation of electrical installations.

Furthermore, two international conferences took place as part of the visit:

April 2nd, 2025, in Ashgabat – the conference "Supporting Decision-Making in the Energy Sector for Sustainable Energy Development in Turkmenistan";

April 4th, 2025, in Mary – the conference "Systems Thinking for Integrated Analysis in Energy and Climate: Exploring the Specifics of Sustainable Energy Development in Turkmenistan".

These conferences were dedicated to supporting decision-making in the energy sector and systems analysis in the fields of energy and climate.

The SECCA visit also included a familiarization with new energy efficiency technologies at the construction site of the State Energy Institute in Mary. In this context, the possibility of awarding the building a "Green Certificate" upon completion of construction was discussed.
