Saudi Arabia introduces mandatory vaccination for pilgrims starting from February 10
Starting from February 10, 2025, Saudi Arabia will implement mandatory vaccination for pilgrims intending to perform Umrah and Hajj.
All passengers aged one year and older must have a certificate of vaccination against meningococcal infection. The vaccine must be tetravalent (ACYW-135) polysaccharide and administered within the last three years, at least 10 days before arrival. Alternatively, a conjugated vaccine, administered within the last five years, is also acceptable.
This new measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of pilgrims and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The introduction of mandatory vaccination is also part of global efforts to control the spread of infectious diseases and protect public health.
Previously, mandatory vaccination against meningitis was required only for pilgrims performing the major Hajj pilgrimage. Now, it will be a requirement for all individuals visiting Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
