A further demonstration of Turkmenistan’s commitment to developing historical and economic ties with the countries of the region was the participation of the Turkmen Ambassador in Islamabad on January 9 in an international seminar on “Regional Trade and Connectivity: Opening New Horizons and Opportunities.”

The seminar was organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA) and the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) of Pakistan.

The event was also attended by the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, Pakistani and international experts. They discussed the enormous prospects of trade and economic relations between the countries of Central and South Asia and ways to effectively use the existing potential.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atajan Movlamov emphasized the constructive initiatives of the country's leadership, supported by the UN General Assembly and aimed at strengthening energy and transport security, as well as the UN proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

As a vivid example of Turkmenistan's policy, the participants of the seminar were shown slides dedicated to the ceremony of launching construction of important energy and transport projects on the border of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, which took place in September 2024. It was noted that the implementation of these projects will contribute to further strengthening of peace and trust in the region. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan also spoke about the policy of the leadership of Turkmenistan to expand transport and transit communications passing through the country in the East-West and North-South directions.

Pakistan's Minister of Petroleum and Water Resources Musadiq Masood Malik called for strengthening regional connectivity, which will provide the countries of the region with access to vital energy resources. He noted that through joint projects such as pipelines, transport and energy corridors, the countries of the region can achieve stable and diversified energy supplies, thereby strengthening their energy security.

The establishment of the Silk Road Culture Center and participation in the international seminar in Islamabad indicate that Turkmenistan is consistently implementing a policy of strengthening regional cooperation, both in the cultural and economic spheres.
