TAPI Gas Pipeline: Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Discuss Acceleration of Work
On January 4, 2025, a meeting was held in Kabul between Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan Hidayatullah Badri and CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited Muhammetmurad Amanov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the latest achievements of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, as well as issues related to accelerating the remaining work on the project.
Particular attention was paid to creating new jobs for Afghans, as well as improving the skills of Afghan engineers involved in the project.
In December, a delegation from Turkmenistan inspected the progress of construction work on the Serhetabat-Herat section in Afghanistan. Construction of this section began in September 2024 and is an important stage in the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
The continuation of the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline on the Serhetabat-Herat section, called "Arkadagyň ak ýoly", is designed in the work plans of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan for 2025. This emphasizes the importance of the project for Turkmenistan and its desire for further implementation.
