Ashgabat Celebrates the New Year - Lights on the Country's Main Christmas Tree
Today, the lights on the tallest Christmas tree in Turkmenistan were ceremoniously lit on the square in front of the Älem cultural and entertainment center in Ashgabat. This marks the beginning of festive events dedicated to the favorite winter holiday - the New Year. A colorful fairy-tale town was also set up here.
The height of the Main Christmas tree, crowned with an eight-pointed star and the numbers 2025, is 44 meters, and its width is 16 meters.
A bright New Year's performance was held on the square with the participation of theater groups, young artists and popular pop singers. Characters of the outgoing 2024 and the coming 2025 dedicated their poems and songs to the ruler of winter.
The culmination of the celebration was the lighting of the lights in the country's Main Christmas tree. Following this, Christmas trees began to sparkle in the squares of cities and villages in Turkmenistan, where festive events are also taking place.
