François Bayrou has been appointed the new Prime Minister of France

President of France Emmanuel Macron has appointed François Bayrou as the new Prime Minister of France, according to the Élysée Palace.

The previous government, led by Michel Barnier, lasted for three months.

François Bayrou is an experienced politician and the author of numerous historical books. He leads the centrist party "Democratic Movement" (MoDem).

The composition of the new cabinet will be formed in the coming days.

The new Prime Minister and his cabinet will face the challenging task of securing approval for the country’s 2025 budget plan in the lower house of Parliament.
